Jersey City Buddhist Meditation Class
The Power of Compassion to Actualize our Human Potential
This week's class is taught by Deepika Bagchee
In this series, we will explore the profoundly empowering meditation on universal compassion. This is the perfect meditation with which to begin the new year. According to Buddha, compassion is our actual Buddha nature. Meditating on compassion enables us to recognize our extraordinary potential to not only experience lasting happiness and freedom ourselves, but to be of great benefit to others. And the more familiar we become with this beautiful heartfelt mind, the more empowered we are to make great spiritual progress. Some people are concerned that meditating on compassion might be depressing but actually the opposite is true. This meditation naturally gives us great joy, energy and purpose for our lives.

Six Practices to Transform Our Life: "Remain Natural while Changing your Aspiration.”

This encouragement given by the great Buddhist teacher Chekhawa over a thousand years ago explains that the path to creating the most meaningful and joyful life does not have to involve making external changes in job or lifestyle. It simply involves making a shift in our intention. In this series we will look at developing and maintaining this shift, directing our wish to achieve our highest potential, enlightenment, out of love and compassion for every single living being without exception. As we develop this wish we enter into the beautiful path of the
Bodhisattva, a being bound for Enlightenment for the benefit of all. In particular we will look at the six main practices of the Bodhisattva, known as the Six Perfections. Integrating these six practices into our daily activities enables us to transform every facet of our life, our job, our relationships and so on, into our spiritual training. Through talks, guided meditations, and discussions, we will open us up to the extraordinary possibilities for living the very best life, for both ourself and others.
