Breathe Your Way to Inner Peace: the OM AH HUM Mantra Meditation

This class is offered in-person only

There is a special connection between our breath and feelings of anxiety or calm in our bodies. When we are anxious, we take rapid, shallow breaths. When we are calm, we breathe slowly and deeply. Because of this connection we can learn how to use the breath to calm our bodies and our minds.

In this brief series we will learn a special meditation in which we combine our breath with the mental recitation of the mantra OM AH HUM, the “Mantra of all Buddhas.” This special breathing meditation has the power to help us go deeper into our meditative peace, purify our body and mind, and connect with our own potential for enlightenment.

We all know the feeling of waking up on a beautiful summer Sunday and feeling like all is right in the world. We plan outings with friends and family to enjoy the beautiful weather. This is what life is about! Or is it? Sometimes even on the nicest days we can feel anxious, overwhelmed or unhappy.
If we check carefully we can see that it is our mind and not our circumstances that creates happiness. In this 6 week course we will explore the obstacles we face when pursuing happiness and learn strategies to develop true and lasting happiness.
