Did you know we offer classes throughout NYC? Every week you can find KMC NYC branch classes in Riverdale, Harlem, LIC, UWS, Williamsburg, NoHo and Jersey City. Our branch classes are a critical component in helping our center fulfill Venerable Geshe-la’s mission - to make Dharma accessible to as many New Yorkers as possible. Yesterday we enjoyed a branch teachers’ meeting. A chance for all of us to gather together and discuss ideas of how to grow even more. Thanks to everyone who joined us!

"If we were able to maintain a calm and peaceful mind all day long we would never experience any problems or mental suffering. For example, if our mind remains peaceful all the time, then even if we are insulted, criticized or blamed, or if we lose our job or our friends, we will not become unhappy. No matter how difficult our external circumstances may become, for as long as we maintain a calm and peaceful mind they will not be a problem for us."

New Series Starts Tomorrow Evening, with Guest Teacher, Edwin Tubb

The Habits of Happiness
5:30 - 6:30pm
KMC NYC - Main Center, Chelsea

Why should happiness and well-being be something that only comes our way every now and then? Is life really this random, or is it possible to take some control over our own experience and (yes!) even direct it to the most beneficial and joyful experience we can imagine?

Let’s do that. Buddha explained that we have specific “mental factors” (eleven of them, to be precise) that when put into play will naturally give rise to feelings of peace and happiness. What we want to do is begin to make a habit of activating them.

Each of these eleven habits of mind has the power:
*to shift our perspective,
*shake off stress,
*and boost our emotional well-being.

In this series, we’ll explore and unpack these special insights, and discover how Buddhist meditation can power-up the peace, presence and positivity in your life. Everyone welcome.

In How to Transform Your Life, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso writes "If our mind is peaceful we will be free from worries and mental discomfort, and so we will experience true happiness; but if our mind is not peaceful, we will find it very difficult to be happy, even if we are living in the very best conditions. If we train in meditation, our mind will gradually become more and more peaceful, and we will experience a purer and purer form of happiness. Eventually we will be able to stay happy all the time, even in the most difficult circumstances."
