April 15th is Buddha’s Enlightenment Day. Every year we celebrate this event with the traditional two day fasting purification practice known as Nyungne, using the practice known as Drop of Essential Nectar. During this practice we emphasize compassion, the very heart of enlightenment, by engaging in prostrations to 1,000 armed Avalokiteshvara, the Buddha of Compassion.

Each day will begin with the taking of the eight Mahayana precepts at 7am. There will be three sessions each day: 7:00am, 10:30am and 3:30pm Friday/3:00pm Saturday. You can only attend the sessions if you have taken the precepts that morning. For further information about precepts, please read more here.
