How to Live Lightly
How to Experience Meaningful Happiness Every Day
It is possible to experience happiness all the time. Not just a brief pleasant feeling that quickly fades, but rather a deep, stable heartfelt happiness that we can effectively build upon, day by day. In Buddhism we call this pure happiness, because it arises from authentic internal causes within the mind, and doesn’t necessarily depend on whether or not things are working out for us externally.
When we grasp at external situations and relationships as the source of our happiness, our life becomes ‘heavy’. At best, these external situations deliver a temporary happiness that quickly fades. Often they don’t even do that. Chasing such ordinary happiness gives way to anxiety, disappointment and frustration. In this retreat, Natalia will explain how to access pure authentic and lasting happiness, and how to nurture it every day. Gaining even just a little bit of experience of this pure happiness allows us to live lightly. We learn in a relaxed way to extract a pure and meaningful happiness from every encounter and situation.
It turns out that developing such happiness is not difficult. We just need to have it pointed out to us and then train in it a little bit every day. Happiness training … that’s what Buddha’s teachings are all about!
