Inner Protection for Difficult Times
The Practice of Going For Refuge
This week's class is taught by guest teacher, Alice Fox

This class is offered in person only
$15 per class, free for supporting members
When the external situation feels unsettling and challenging it is even more important than normal to establish inner protection. In other words, to be able to create a peaceful and blessed state of mind that will empower us to respond to all our various challenges with wisdom and a good heart.
It is precisely the practice of going for refuge that enables us to create this inner protection. Through refuge in Dharma, we discover the inner strength and wonderful states of mind, such as love and wisdom, that naturally exist within. Through refuge in Buddha we discover how to connect to a vast reservoir of inspiration and blessing. Through refuge in Sangha, we receive the guidance and assistance required to bring real mental and spiritual progress in our lives. In this course, through talks, guided meditation, and discussion, we will discover how to apply this rich and wonderful practice to our own lives.

Special Event and Five-Week Series: How Not to Take Things Personally
Applying Emptiness to the Practice of Patience
So often in our interactions with others we find ourselves experiencing feelings of hurt, rejection, and not being heard that can lead to developing anger and rage towards others. Within Buddha’s exceedingly practical teachings on patience there is a special category known as ‘the patience of thinking about profound Dharma’ in which we apply the teachings on emptiness to our training.
Join us for our April Special Event with Kadam Morten, followed by a five-week series. Kadam Morten and Kadam Matthew will show how by applying Buddha’s extraordinary insight into ‘no self’ we free ourselves from taking things so personally. This in turn opens us up to a much more flexible and lighthearted way of responding to difficulties. Not only does this greatly improve the quality of our life, it allows us to transform problems and conflicts into opportunities for great spiritual growth.
