New Series: Finding Lasting Happiness in Wisdom
Have you ever thought that happiness and peace of mind were right around the corner? We think it’s in that new job that I am going to get. It’s in that new relationship that I am going to have. It’s in that wonderful vacation I am going to take. Then when all these situations arise happiness and inner peace do not follow. Then we think, it wasn’t the correct job, the right relationship or the perfect vacation. I will just change my mind. This type of changing our mind is in reality exchanging one delusion for the next. Seeking happiness in situation after situation where no true and lasting happiness actually exists. We think I will try a different place, a different person and the cycle of disappointment and unhappiness begins again and then this life is over and we never find what we are seeking. So where is true happiness? Where is inner peace? Happiness and peace are according to Buddha a thought away. The real source of happiness is our inner peace. The good news is that inner peace can be cultivated by training our mind through spiritual practice. In this series we will learn where true and lasting happiness abides. We will train in cultivating our own source of happiness by learning to let go of disturbing states of mind and replacing them with wisdom. Lasting happiness and lasting peaceful minds are available to us all the time when we understand how to control and purify our minds. Come along and change your mind!
