Bringing Everybody to the Pure Land
Buddha of Compassion
Empowerment & Commentary
In Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s most recent book, The Mirror of Dharma, we are given a beautiful, concise commentary to the practice of Avalokiteshvara, the Buddha of Compassion. This brief commentary is an oral instruction that gives us a unique and direct tantric method for developing universal love and compassion. During this weekend event we will take a deep dive into this remarkable commentary and practice so as to uncover its hidden depths and sublime power to change our mind and heart swiftly.
The empowerment is a blissful guided meditation through which we connect to Avalokiteshvara and receive powerful blessings. It is through these blessings that we can make quick progress in our practice.
Kadam Morten will give an introduction on Friday evening. The empowerment is on Saturday morning.
Everyone welcome!
“An Empowerment empowers us with a vision, a sense, an experience of what’s possible for us to accomplish – the transformation that’s possible for each and every one of us. Not only do we feel personally empowered to become the person we wish to be, to progress towards enlightenment, but we also feel empowered in how we perceive the world. We recognize that if we purify our mind, we purify our world. We see that there’s a possibility for everyone. We need that in this day and age. We need to be able to bring such an optimistic outlook, such a positive outlook into our lives and into our relationships with others. We all have this extraordinary potential, this potential for change, this potential for becoming a better person, the potential to become the person we wish to be. Actually, we have the potential to become an enlightened being. And, we sense that potential within our moments of peace or clarity or love, but how are we going to actualize that potential? That’s the purpose of an Empowerment. An Empowerment helps us connect to an enlightened being. The imagination is a very important component of an Empowerment. Through the imagination and through the guided meditation, we’re led into a relationship with a manifestation of enlightenment. We start getting a sense of what it would be like to be an enlightened being. It opens us up. It awakens us to our potential and the possibility of actualizing our potential. I think in this day and age, such a ritual, such a special, blessed and powerful ritual like an Empowerment is super important because most people are locked into a very limited view of themselves and the world and what’s possible for them. They feel powerless.”
