Join Us this Saturday for A Day of Volunteering at the World Peace Temple

This is in preparation of the Annual U.S. Kadampa Festival

The annual U.S. Festival is fast approaching.

In preparation for this event, KMC New York (A.K.A. The World Peace Temple sangha) has organized a volunteer weekend when our communities can come together to give the exquisite Temple grounds and buildings a thorough sprucing up!

This is a very meaningful, safe and fun way to visit the Temple and make new Sangha friends while enjoying a weekend away from the city. If you’re relatively new and haven’t attended any Kadampa events before, you are also welcome to join – we’d love to get to know you! There will also be time during the visit for you to enjoy the World Peace Temple.

Depending on the weather, the weekend will consist of yard work and cleaning. There are jobs for every skill level (or those with no skills!). The working schedule will be:

Saturday: 9am-5pm
Sunday: 9am-1 pm (however if anyone can stay until 5pm, your help would be greatly appreciated!)
Note: while the registration form asks you to come Friday night, you are more than welcome to arrive Saturday and leave Saturday afternoon.

The Temple is following New York state Covid safety protocols which means they have limited indoor accommodations, but unlimited camping (plus a few pre-erected tents available). These are offered free of charge however, to stay onsite, participants are required to be fully vaccinated or to receive a negative Covid test before arriving.

The Glen Spey area isn’t short of airbnbs and hotel options if you’d rather stay off site. Some options include:

  • Inn the Glenn (2 minute walk to KMC NY): www.inntheglen.com
  • VRBO options available here
  • AirBnB options available here
  • Hampton Inn (25 minute drive to KMC NY): Website
  • Best Western (25 minute drive to KMC NY): Website

Meals and snacks will be provided free of charge, in a Covid-safe way to anyone who attends.
