What Happens When We Open Our Hearts

None of us lives in isolation. We are all inter-connected to our families, friends, strangers on the street and every other living being on the planet. And it is crucial for own well-being – and the well-being of the world – that we not only come to understand this but that we make the shift to opening our hearts to this reality. In fact, it is vital that we discover our truly deep capacity for great love and compassion. How else will we heal our world?

Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s book, Universal Compassion, is a practical and inspiring text that lays out for us in plain language Buddha’s instructions for accomplishing this goal. In this series of classes, Dana will take us through the book, offering commentary and explanation along the way, as well as guiding us in various meditations that help us gain a direct and healing experience of great compassion.

Becoming our Best Self and a Friend to the World

In this series, we will be discussing the many ways we can bring the wisdom of Buddha’s teachings into our daily lives. Based on an ancient and beloved scripture, the Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life, each class will explore through meditation and readings, the qualities of mind that lead to happiness, to harmony in our relationships, to an enlightened state of mind, and ultimately a meaningful life. These qualities are referred to as the Six Perfections and are rooted in the supremely good heart of compassion. Come and enjoy. Everyone welcome!
