New Series: Acknowledging and Transforming Our Fear
Nobody wants fear in their heart. But there it is. The big fears of aging and sickness and death, and also the zillion other fears that plague us day in and day out. Buddha taught the beautiful logic that because all of our fears arise from our mind, if we learn to protect our mind, we can protect ourself from having to experience them. This process does require some courage, along with faith. It requires our facing the truth of our own vulnerability, on both an everyday and existential level.
We can do this.
In this series we will be exploring Buddha’s teachings and meditation on what happens after we die. Is that scary enough for you? The fact is, we can die at any moment and all the things that we currently rely on for security will disappear. And then what? The answer is: it depends. Our future experiences – happy or unhappy, good or bad – depend on the state of our mind both before we die and at the moment of our death. We need to get ready! When we do this we begin to live fully and fearlessly, taking advantage of every moment, to create the wonderful future that is available to all of us.
