In this half-day silent retreat, we’ll take a gentle pause from the hustle and bustle of daily life and learn to settle our mind like a still ocean. Our root mind is vast like an ocean and is naturally peaceful, even blissful. Usually, we are caught up with the turbulence on its surface, endlessly riding the choppy waves of our thoughts and feelings towards mental agitation and suffering. When we meditate, we dive beneath to deeper levels of our own mind and discover the calm, nourishing waters below.
This experience is deeply healing and empowering. We learn to relate to our thoughts and feelings differently, as just temporary waves that arise from the ocean of our root mind and dissolve back into it. And we begin to identify with the ocean of peace of our root mind that is always present, calm, and accessible, and recognize our limitless potential. In this way, we start to experience true freedom and envision a path towards lasting peace and happiness.
Through simple guided meditations, we’ll learn how to settle our mind and connect with the naturally peaceful, blissful stillness of our root mind. At its heart, Buddhist meditation helps us to understand our own mind, awakening us to the boundless aspects of our inner being.
