New Series: Inspiring Solutions for Difficult Times
What if we could transform all the adverse conditions we experience into opportunities for creating real, positive, and lasting change in our lives and the lives of others?
We can absolutely do this. Within the tried-and-true practices of training the mind known as Lojong, we have all the tools we need to realize this powerful transformation. As it goes, we can find inspiring solutions for the problems we face right now by tapping into the timeless wisdom born from a rich lineage of teachings and teachers going back nearly a thousand years.
Inspired by one of most renowned texts of Mahayana Buddhism, Eight Verses of Training the Mind, written in the late 11th century, the 12th-century Buddhist master Geshe Chekhawa composed Training the Mind in Seven Points, which became an equally beloved and essential text for generations of practitioners. In modern times, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso has offered special insights and commentary on Chekhawa’s text in the form of his beautiful book, Universal Compassion.
In Universal Compassion we can discover invaluable advice for meeting each moment as a spiritual opportunity. Every Wednesday evening, these classes will focus on a particular line or verse from this root text and commentary to inspire our training in the transformative practices of love, compassion, kindness, and wisdom.
