Death As An Ally: How The Meditation On Death Empowers Us To Live Fully In The Moment
Of all the meditations Buddha taught, it’s the meditation on death that leaves the deepest impression, strongly influencing our actions. This is because an abiding awareness of our own mortality is supremely clarifying. We stop obsessing over the small stuff and prioritize our life around what matters most. In this sense, the meditation on death is profoundly life-affirming. It makes us appreciate the preciousness of our human life, giving rise to an experience of joy, gratitude, and a powerful motivation to make the most of every moment. By training to be mindful of our mortality, death becomes an ally that helps us live our best life fully, joyfully, and meaningfully.

NEXT SERIES
Karma: Create the Future We Desire
In this series, we learn to view our lives through the lens of Karma, using facets of Karma as story elements to help us understand why things happen the way they do and how we can start creating the happiness we desire. Karma is a radically different way of viewing our reality in which our actions of body, speech, and mind are the causes, and what we experience are their effects. Our mind is like a field in which we plant seeds of future experiences with our actions. Insights into Karma change our self-concept. Previously, we might have viewed ourselves as powerless to control the circumstances of our lives. When we start understanding Karma, we start thinking of ourselves as authors, as creators of our lives. Each week, we will use storytelling to deepen our understanding of Karma and use those insights to feel empowered to create the future we desire.

MEDITATION IS FOR EVERYONE, JOIN US!
Meditation is about understanding and transforming our mind, shifting our mental state from negative to positive ones that cause true happiness. Meditation connects us to the extraordinary potential within our own mind. Through meditation we discover that our mind is vast, light, the very nature of peace and joy, and infinitely flexible. This discovery opens us up to a whole new perspective: We can change. We can heal. We can flourish from within and benefit all the people in our lives and beyond. Join us for a joyful exploration of the art of flourishing from a modern Buddhist perspective.
Meditation in Queens provides weekly in-person meditation classes in Long Island City and we seek to expand our offerings in the future to Sunnyside, Astoria, Jackson Heights and other neighborhoods of Queens through pop-ups and regular class offerings.
