Transforming Adversity

Buddha gave a special set of teachings for tough times. These practices, known as lojong or training the mind, help us to use the difficulties we encounter as the very means for improving ourselves emotionally and spiritually. Katy will guide us in these skillful methods. The first step is to move away from our sense of isolation and into a heartfelt connection with others through training in authentic love. The teachings will be based on the legendary thousand year old text, Training the Mind in Seven Points as presented in Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s book, Universal Compassion.

Becoming our Best Self and a Friend to the World

In this series, we will be discussing the many ways we can bring the wisdom of Buddha’s teachings into our daily lives. Based on an ancient and beloved scripture, the Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life, each class will explore through meditation and readings, the qualities of mind that lead to happiness, to harmony in our relationships, to an enlightened state of mind, and ultimately a meaningful life. These qualities are referred to as the Six Perfections and are rooted in the supremely good heart of compassion. Come and enjoy. Everyone welcome!
