Upper West Side Buddhist Meditation Class

Bringing Joy and Energy to Our Practice

In this two-part series, we’ll explore the perfections of effort and giving, drawing from the wisdom of Shantideva’s Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life and Joyful Path of Good Fortune. Our first session will focus on joyful effort—because while we all want to meditate, it’s not always easy to find the energy or motivation. We’ll learn how to cultivate steady, uplifting energy in our spiritual practice so that progress becomes a source of joy rather than something we feel we should be doing but somehow never find the time. The second class will explore the perfection of giving, deepening our understanding of generosity as something far broader than material sharing. Together, we’ll examine how these two perfections function as essential methods for developing the mind of a bodhisattva—transforming ordinary actions into profound causes for lasting happiness and wisdom.

DETAILS

Our general program classes include Dharma teachings along with guided meditations
Stay for snacks and "hangout" time afterwards
These classes are suitable for both beginners and more advanced meditation practitioners
General meditation classes are given as a series, but can also be taken individually
No special clothing is required
No pre-registration is necessary
Chairs are supplied
