Mindfulness, Concentration and the Art of Meditation
We all have within out hearts the seeds of peace, happiness, love, compassion, wisdom and other sublime qualities. The essence of the spiritual path is to learn to recognize these seeds of happiness, and nurture and cultivate them through training the mind. The ability to do so depends upon improving mindfulness and concentration and learning the art of skillful meditation.
In this series, we will focus on the special methods for improving our meditation through training in mindfulness and concentration. In particular we will focus on the meditation on the clear nature of the mind but what we learn here can be applied to all our meditation practices. France will guide us step by step through this process and the emphasis will be on cultivating a meditation practice that we can easily integrate into our busy urban lives.

Freedom from Anger
Patient Acceptance and Transforming Problems and Conflict
Problems and difficulties don’t make us unhappy; the mind with which we respond to them does. Especially the mind of anger makes everything seem difficult. Far from protecting us from problems and conflicts, anger always makes our problems worse. In fact, anger is our biggest problem.
In this course we will look at how to reduce our anger and frustration and instead cultivate patient acceptance. Because problems arise every day, patient acceptance is the key to being able to enjoy a happy and peaceful life. Furthermore it gives us the skill to transform our problems and conflicts into the very means that empower us to improve our good qualities of love, compassion and wisdom.
Finally, as one of the main practices of a bodhisattva, it is essential for being able to make great spiritual progress and actualize our potential for lasting happiness and enlightenment. This course will demonstrate how meditation and training our mind in daily life can help us cultivate patient acceptance and transform our life. Everyone welcome.

Jersey City meditation and Buddhism classes are suitable for both beginners and more advanced meditation practitioners. These classes offer meditation techniques and teachings on the fundamentals of Buddhism, with an emphasis on their practical application in everyday life.
Although these meditation classes are given as a series, they can also be taken individually. Please feel free to drop in on a class-by-class basis.
Classes are held every week unless otherwise stated.
No special clothing is required. No pre-registration required.
