Sangha Working Visit at the Temple for World Peace in the Catskills!
In preparation for the International Fall Festival at KMC New York, Oct. 14 - 20.
Free
The International Fall Festival is fast approaching.
In preparation for this event, KMC New York (A.K.A. The Temple for World Peace sangha) has organized a volunteer weekend when our community can come together to give the exquisite Temple grounds and buildings a thorough sprucing up.
This is a very meaningful, safe and fun way to visit the Temple and make new sangha friends while enjoying a weekend away from the city. If you’re relatively new and haven’t attended any Kadampa events before, you are also welcome to join – we’d love to get to know you! There will also be time during the visit for you to enjoy the Temple for World Peace.
There are jobs for every skill level (or those with no skills!). The main criteria is a good heart wanting to help out. If you do have specific abilities you can bring, however, that is wonderful and much appreciated! The Temple team are in great need for people with the following skills:
- Cooking
- Baristas
- General contractor skills
- Carpenters
- Electricians
- Plumbers
- Cleaning
- Painting
- Sewing
- Gardening or landscaping
- Household and accommodations
Please plan to come Friday night as the work hours will be Saturday, 9am-5pm and Sunday, 9am-1pm (or 5pm if you can stay on a few extra hours.)
Vegetarian meals and snacks will be included (vegan and wheat-free options will also be available).
Free dorm accommodation onsite will be offered at no cost. You are also welcome to bring your own tent and camp onsite, upgrade to a private room for a minimal fee, or stay offsite. The Glen Spey area isn’t short of airbnbs and hotel options if that’s more to your liking. Some options to explore include:
- Inn the Glenn (2 minute walk to KMC NY): www.inntheglen.com
- VRBO options available here
- AirBnB options available here
- Hampton Inn (25 minute drive to KMC NY): Website
- Best Western (25 minute drive to KMC NY): Website
