Guidelines for Training the Mind

Composed over a thousand years ago, Training the Mind in Seven Points is a meditation manual for how to actualize our highest potential, enlightenment, through training the mind in our daily life. During this series, we will look at the teachings in Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s modern commentary, Universal Compassion, which explain how to train the mind in all situations, and how to gauge whether we are improving. These profound pieces of advice, such as ‘Always rely on a happy mind alone’, have been inspiring and guiding people for centuries. Now we can be inspired by them and use them to transform our lives.

Transforming the Holidays Through Love

In a season that celebrates peace, joy, and togetherness, we can sometimes find ourselves experiencing feelings of stress, isolation, frustration, and even anger, particularly with respect to our closest relationships. Buddha stressed the importance of love in healing our relationships and experiencing inner peace through love. In this course, we will learn special methods for developing a love that accepts the faults that we see in others, allowing us to let go of our resentments and disappointments and to draw others close in our hearts. Such a love can become the basis for a universal love of all living beings, making this holiday season truly meaningful and transcendent.
