We may wonder if it is possible to enjoy ourselves and improve our meditation, and make great spiritual progress while doing so. To have our cake and eat it too. The answer is: Yes! It is. However, to do so requires wisdom, discipline, and a good heart.
Our ordinary enjoyments – food, music, dancing, companionship, pleasing environments, and so on – captivate our attention A LOT! Pursuing them takes up a huge amount of our time. Yet at best, they give us a fleeting moment of happiness and sometimes not even that. Our attachment to them also underlies our compulsions and self-destructive behaviors.
The path to true, lasting happiness and freedom lies in training the mind, both in meditation and in our daily life.
In this course, through guided meditations and teachings, Alexandra will introduce us to some of Buddha’s profound and beautiful Tantric teachings. With this simple method of transforming enjoyments, we can learn to associate bliss and happiness not with grasping or attachment, but with letting go. The skillful application of these profound teachings will lead us to a life of great meaning and great joy.
This course will serve as an introduction to the upcoming Long-Life Buddha Tara Tantric Empowerment on November 8 at Kadampa Meditation Center NYC.
