How to Actually Make a Difference
Emptiness and the 3 Types of Bodhichitta
In a world of so much conflict and strife, how can we really help? With wisdom understanding the emptiness of our self, we are empowered to relate to a new and confident version of our self – as a Bodhisattva rather than a helpless cog, as a friend of the world. On the basis of this meaningful and inspiring self-image, we find ourselves in the ideal position to help others in a deep and sustained way.
A Bodhisattva understands that their liberation is tied up with the liberation of everyone else. Their incredible flexibility of mind allows them to shapeshift and adjust their approach to whatever best suits others. Approaching life through 3 different modalities – king-like, shepherd-like, and boatman-like bodhichitta – we can see how best to be of service in different situations, sometimes as a strong, confident guide and leader, sometimes as a servant, and sometimes as a team player.
We are delighted that Kadam Lucy and Kadam Kyle have agreed to teach a course together on this subject! They will guide us through a practical and accessible journey into the emptiness of the self, how we can improve our self-image into that of a Bodhisattva, and how wisdom and compassion synergize in the three bodhichittas, giving us the real ability to make a difference.
There will also be a Q and A session with them.
Everyone welcome!
