How to Abide in a Pure Land

On the weekend of April 29 – May 1, the annual Northeast Dharma Celebration will take place at the World Peace Temple in Glen Spey. As part of this weekend, Kadam Morten, in his capacity of Eastern National Spiritual Director, will grant the empowerment of Avalokiteshvara, the Buddha of Compassion. Following the empowerment, Kadam Morten will give teachings on the three recognitions according to Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s presentation in the Mirror of Dharma with Additions. These teachings explain how we can quickly change our world by changing our mind. Instead of assenting to the ordinary, mundane appearance of our life, we can transform how we see ourselves, others, and the world around us. As a result of joyfully applying effort to this meditation practice throughout our life, we will come to experience our world as a pure land – free from all suffering and problems!

On the Saturday following the Celebration, Kadam Matthew will lead a half-day retreat at KMC NYC, in which we can deepen our understanding of this simple yet profound practice.
