Imagine our mind as a vast ocean. On the surface, it can get pretty choppy — thoughts racing, emotions crashing like waves in a storm. Most of the time, we’re out riding those waves, tossed around by stress, distraction, and noise. But what if we could dive beneath all that?
In this half-day silent retreat, we’ll take a gentle pause from the hustle and bustle of daily life and dive below the surface into the calm, clear waters below. Through simple guided meditations, we’ll learn how to settle our mind and connect with the naturally peaceful, blissful stillness of our root mind.
This experience is deeply healing and empowering. We learn to distinguish ourselves from and relate to our thoughts and feelings differently, as just temporary waves that arise from the ocean of our root mind and dissolve back into it. And we begin to identify with our root mind, like the ocean, always there, vast, calm, and full of potential. In this way, we start to experience true freedom and envision a path towards lasting peace and happiness.
At its heart, Buddhist meditation helps us to understand our own mind, opening us up to the expansive spiritual dimensions of our being.
