The Wisdom of the Bodhisattva
How Emptiness enables us to be a Bodhisattva
Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, Joyful Path of Good Fortune
In Buddhism there is no more admirable ideal and role model than that of a Bodhisattva – someone using his or her life to progress towards enlightenment, empowered by love and compassion for all beings. And yet, for all our admiration we tend to feel it is impossible for us to become an actual Bodhisattva. Why? Because we think of our present limited identity as fixed.
However, according to Buddha’s teachings on emptiness, the true nature of things, our identity depends completely on how we perceive ourselves. By changing our perception of ourselves we change who we are.
In this weekend country meditation course, at our Temple in the Catskills, we will see how the experience of emptiness will revolutionize our sense of what’s possible, providing us the opportunity to enjoy the joyful and meaningful life of a Bodhisattva.
Follow on Silent Retreat
The course is immediately followed by a 3-day silent retreat with Gen Samten (Sunday, June 23 – Wednesday, June 26).
Participating in silent meditation retreat is one of the most powerful methods for tapping into our potential for dynamic transformation. Enjoy this unique opportunity to deepen your experience of emptiness.
Everyone is welcome.
