The Unceasing Mind
Understanding Past and Future Lives and the Nature of Consciousness from a Buddhist Perspective
The understanding of the continuity of consciousness is a fascinating and much misunderstood topic within Buddhist thought. Contemplating the possibility of the mind continuing after the body passes away is challenging for many of us who have been raised to accept the assumption that the body and the mind are inseparable, but this contemplation can also be profoundly thought-provoking as well as eye-opening. If we develop even an basic openness to this idea, an acknowledgement of the possibility of past and future lives, extraordinary new horizons take shape within our lives, and we can learn special methods that encourage us to abide in peace and positivity in the here and now, and thereby creating a blissful future.
