The Power of Intention

New Intentions for the New Year

The new year brings with it the opportunity to ‘start afresh.’ If we change our mind we change our world. During this New Year's Eve talk, Kadam Morten will explore what Buddha has to say about the power of intention. Buddha’s insights and our own meditation practice can help us set a path for ourselves for the new year, so that this time around, it can truly be a Happy New Year.

The Full Evening Schedule

9:00pm: enjoy delicious vegetarian fare (gluten-free and vegan options) and the company of fellow celebrants

10:30pm: Kadam Morten will introduce and guide us through the meditation practice which will take us into the new year.

Our New Year's Eve Meditation and Celebration is
One of Our Biggest Events of the Year!

Ringing in the new year with my Sangha friends at KMCNYC is by far the most excellent way to end a year and also the most perfect way to begin it.

I will be attending the NYE event because I know it will bring me peace and comfort, and prepare me to start the year with a peaceful positive mind.

I love the Kadampa NYE meditation classes because it allows me to focus on a peaceful and joyful state of mind. A mind that is able to set my best intentions on how to start 2023. A mind that is able to let go of 2022 and begin in a new moment. And most importantly, a mind that is able to connect with others that have the same wish.

Our Calendar Keeper and Guardian, Tim: makes sure all classes are succinctly and precisely reflected on the website and every event links where it needs to. Tim is an essential cog in our information wheel.

In dharma teachings we often hear, "Blink and it's a new world. " Every New Year's Eve at KMC NYC we have this very cool opportunity...blink (meditate) and it's a new year! It's such a great way to re-set my course. This year in particular. Nothing could be smarter.

I will be attending the NYE event again because I feel it's a meaningful way to start the New Year. Hearing Buddha's wisdom is always very inspiring and it helps me with framing my outlook for the year ahead and the person I want to be.

Entering a new year with my mind filled with peace, joy, and love-- and connecting to others who are doing the same  --  is so meaningful, particularly right now.  2021 needs us. - Sharon G.

I have grown fond of ringing in the New Year’s with KMC NYC. A meditation and prayers for world peace resonate very strongly with my set intentions.

I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else on NYE. It’s a meaningful way to start my year going inwards.

I want to look back at 2022 and contemplate how I can see its events in a more constructive way and I'd also like to look forward and ask myself what do I want 2023 to look like?

There is no better way to start the year off right than by setting a strong intention to contribute to the cause of inner and outer healing and peace!

I will be attending this event to start the year meaningfully, by setting up an intention to create equity, inclusion, joy, authenticity and pure love.
