We may think we can’t change profoundly, but according to Buddha the opposite is true. Who we are is a creative process, and not something that is ever set in stone. If we rely upon proven methods for transformation, we can definitely change for the better and become the person we wish to be.

And the fast-track method to bringing about profound change is learning to connect to enlightened beings, Buddhas. We can most easily learn to access their blessings by engaging in the practice of Heart Jewel - the heart practice of the New Kadampa Tradition. Through practicing Heart Jewel, we learn how to generate the right state of mind with which to meditate successfully. It empowers, purifies and, most importantly, blesses our mind, so that we can meditate at much deeper levels and gain actual experience in meditation.

In Buddhist practice, meditating on our own death is an essential part of ones spiritual training. Why? Because by facing our death with a wisdom understanding of what is truly taking place in that process, not only are we able to engage in it with a peaceful acceptance but it becomes a powerful encouragement and inspiration to live each day of our life to the fullest.

In this course, Kadam Morten will explain the Buddhist perspective on what happens to our mind when we die. He will guide meditations that will take us through that process. We will learn how we can die peacefully, even joyfully, and how we can help others to do the same. We can give power and meaning to our own deaths.

Half-day Heart Jewel Retreat, this Saturday with Kadam Morten

Heart Jewel is the heart practice of the New Kadampa Tradition. It is a daily practice (5:15pm weekdays) at KMC NYC and all NKT centers throughout the world.

Through practicing Heart Jewel, we learn how to generate the right state of mind with which to meditate successfully. It empowers, purifies and, most importantly, blesses our mind, so that we can meditate at much deeper levels and gain actual experience in meditation.

During this half-day retreat, Kadam Morten will guide two sessions of Heart Jewel, with particular emphasis on the Migtsema prayer, along with other prayers we can make daily to Je Tsongkhapa.
