Discover the many ways to connect with the KMC NYC Community
One of the easiest and fun ways to improve your understanding of Buddha’s teachings is to spend time hanging out with other like-minded people at the center or at the branches. Here are a few ways you can do this:
Saturdays: Hang out between the two sessions…meet fellow students, chat with the teacher…grab a coffee or tea.
Sunday Mornings: Come for the teachings, stay for the party! We always gather at and around the community table after Sunday class for nibbles and coffee and tea and conversation.
Monthly Ritual Prayers: Called“pujas,” these are a wonderful opportunity to deepen your experience of Dharma…and if you wish, help with making offerings.
Dharma Buddies: perfect If you have questions about meditation, the center, Buddhism in general and/or would simply like to connect with someone. Visit meditationinnewyork.org/dharma-buddies for more information and to request a buddy.
Branch Classes: Our numerous weekly classes in various neighborhoods around the city are relatively small and allow for easy interaction with both the teacher and your fellow students…your neighbors!
Just Hang Out: Feel free to arrive early for class in the reception area or the atrium. Connect with other students, the folks at reception, the class greeter…whoever. For that matter, meet Sam (or email her at [email protected]) and ask about becoming a greeter yourself…or about any of our numerous other volunteer opportunities.
