Mind Like a Clear Sky Retreat with Kadam Morten

Saturday, July 9, 10:00am - 1:30pm + Q&A

This meditation has so many benefits. For example, it’s profoundly relaxing and enables us to develop strong mindfulness and deep concentration. But it’s so much more than that. Because the mind is the basis of all we know and perceive, deepening your understanding of the nature of your mind will alter the way you understand life, the universe and so on, making everything seem far more extraordinary and magical than you had ever thought possible.

Clarity and Emptiness

Clarity is the term used to describe the nature of the mind itself

Emptiness is the term Buddha used to describe the true nature of reality.

In this weekend country retreat, our initial focus will be on the beautiful meditation known as "the clarity of the mind meditation." We will see how gaining experience of this clarity sets us up perfectly for gaining actual experience of emptiness, our subsequent area of focus. At the conclusion of the retreat we will see how combining the insights from both meditations enables us to understand in very practical ways the highest view of reality taught by Buddha, known as Mahamudra.

Over this weekend Kadam Morten will be emphasizing how to carry the experience of clarity and emptiness we discover in meditation out into the meditation break time . We will train in the joyful and liberating practice of simultaneously seeing everything that we encounter as both the nature of the mind and the nature of emptiness. Deepening our understanding and experience of these two meditations will radically help us in every facet of our life.

The retreat will take place at inspiring and blessed Temple for World Peace, within the beautiful countryside of the foothills of the Catskills. Everyone welcome.
