Celebrating the Life of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, the Architect & Artist

June 4, 2021

In order to give people everywhere throughout the world access to Buddha’s proven methods for attaining peace and happiness, Venerable Geshe-la has also established the International Temples Project (ITP).

Already, this project has constructed five World Peace Temples, in England, New York, Brazil, Portugal, and Arizona, with one in Spain to be opened next. These Temples are built largely by Kadampa builders and volunteers according to Venerable Geshe-la’s design, which is based on the exquisite mandala palace of Buddha Heruka.

Temples are extraordinary statements of beauty and meaning, and every aspect of their design teaches the spiritual path. They are adorned with exquisite art work and have shrines containing breathtaking, authentic Buddhist statues. These statues and artwork are designed and produced in the Kadampa Art Studio by trained volunteer artists.

Each year tens of thousands of people visit Kadampa Temples and centers. Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche has said that anyone who sees a Temple or the holy objects within will receive a special blessing that sows the seeds of future peace and happiness in their mind.
