Announcing our annual empowerment weekend! Saturday, November 8-9

This year, Kadam Morten will grant the empowerment of Long-Life Buddha Tara.

White Tara is the Buddha of long life, wisdom and good fortune. The empowerment is a blissful guided meditation through which we make a deep connection with this inspiring Buddha and receive her healing, joyful and protective blessings. The empowerment commentary will focus on the tantric meditation practice known as self-generation. These imaginative meditations help us to develop White Tara’s special qualities swiftly.

Making such a deep connection with an enlightened being opens us to seeing our life in a beautiful and rich new way. Rather than just being ordinary, our life becomes a wonderful, creative and immensely meaningful spiritual path to the actualization of our highest potential. It opens us up to a world of possibilities, both for our own happiness, and for our ability to help others.

MEDITATION ON THE NATURE OF THE MIND

“Taking the mind as the object of meditation has a number of advantages. It makes it easier to attain tranquil abiding, to overcome external distractions, and to realize emptiness.”

Join us for a half-day retreat absorbing into the nature of the mind. First we will spend time identifying our own mind and then we will train in developing concentration on it. This meditation has many functions but its main one is improving our ability to hold our meditation object single pointedly. It will also give us a much more experiential understanding of Buddha’s main teaching – that all happiness and suffering come from the mind – and will therefore deepen our resolve to train our mind. Gaining experience of the nature of the mind also opens us up to a deeper understanding of emptiness and the practice of Tantra.
