Buddha Amitayus Empowerment

May 23, 2019

Empowerments are rare and precious events at KMC NYC. Each year, we gather together as a community and receive special blessing empowerments in March and in November.

Why Receive An Empowerment?

The message of Buddhism is extraordinary. Buddha is telling us that we can become free from every kind of suffering there is. The question is: do we believe it?

To really grasp the meaning of this, we need to let ourselves imagine what it would be like to never feel angry or anxious or upset again. We need to let ourselves picture a life characterized by authentic happiness, inner freedom, and real harmony.

Since we have the extremely rare good fortune to be able to access pure Dharma teachings in this life, we have a path right out of suffering if we wish to take it. All we need to do is train our mind. By nurturing our connection to the Buddhas, we will learn to open ourselves to their help every step of the way.

Empowerments create the opportunity for us to receive extraordinary wisdom blessings to enable us to build our connection to enlightened beings who provide us with tremendous assistance on the spiritual path.

Buddha Amitayus

In March 2019, Kadam Morten granted the empowerment of Buddha Amitayus.

Amitayus means immeasurable life span. When we open our heart to Buddha Amitayus‘ guidance, he will help us increase our wisdom, our merit (our ability to fulfill our wishes) and, most importantly, he will help us  protect our most precious possession — our life. Through his blessings, we increase our energy and lifespan with which to complete the spiritual path.

Enjoy these pics of our special day.
