Everybody Welcome!
How can you best celebrate KMC NYC's 30 year anniversary?
It starts with a wish, very much like the one that brought Venerable Geshe Kelsang and his teachings of the New Kadampa Tradition to the West in the first place.
When Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso first journeyed from Tibet to England in 1977, the first teachings he gave were on the path of the Bodhisattva, from Shantideva's Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life. Geshela's commentary to this classic text was subsequently published as his first book, Meaningful to Behold. Geshela explained
Including ours!
What better way to celebrate our 30-year anniversary than for our own wonderful community to gather together and celebrate the success of Venerable Geshe-la’s wish by engaging in the beautiful and inspiring Bodhisattva Vow ceremony.
Kadam Morten will begin the day with an explanation of precisely what "becoming a Bodhisattva" means, after which we will collectively receive the blessing of the Bodhisattva Vow itself. In this Ceremony we affirm, each at our own level, our intention to conduct our life in alignment with the Bodhisattva’s principal wish: to attain the freedom of Enlightenment specifically
Afterwards we will a celebrate together the glorious opportunity that we have now enjoyed in the New York city area for 30 years – being part of Geshe Kelsang's vision, a vibrant Bodhisattva community, and working enthusiastically to give as many people as possible the same opportunity that we enjoy.
