Attention sightseers, world travelers, and New York City adventurers:

We Invite You to Visit Our Modern Buddhist Mahayana Temple in the Heart of Manhattan

On West 24th Street, Manhattan, New York City, lies a hidden jewel. About half way between 6th and 7th Avenues is Kadampa Meditation Center New York City, a Mahayana Buddhist Temple designed for the modern world.

Our center houses two meditation rooms, each containing an exquisite shrine of Buddha statues. The main meditation room features an 8-foot Buddha, along with statues of the key Kadampa guru, Je Tsongkhapa and his two sons, as well as Avalokiteshvara, Green Tara, Vajrapani, Prajnaparamita and Manjushri. Also featured on the shrine is the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden and his retinue, as well as a statue of our founder, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche.

Venerable Geshe-la came to the West in 1977 and spent over 40 years establishing Kadampa Buddhism throughout the world and helping it to flourish. Our center in New York City is one of the largest of our Tradition's 1000+ worldwide.

While our main meditation room has a capacity of more than 300 people, while our smaller meditation room downstairs can accommodate up to 30 and is  much more intimate.

Please  visit us and take a tour of our center, attend a meditation and Dharma class, make offerings to the Buddhas, or simply enjoy some quiet time in the Atrium, one of New York City's most serene and quiet places.

We are open every day of the week, and we offer tours of our space on weekdays between 1:00 - 5:00pm.
