How to Free Yourself from All Unhappiness
What’s Keeping us Trapped?
The middle section of the Lamrim meditations (the Stages of the Path) consists of four meditations, one for each of Buddha’s very first teaching, known as the Four Noble Truths. Having meditated extensively on the first Noble Truth in the previous series we now proceed with the remaining three, spending a few weeks on each. First we will spend some time clearly identifying the actual origin of suffering within our own mind – the root delusion of ignorance – also known as self-grasping. Then we will contemplate the actual methods – known as the Three Higher Trainings – for removing that root cause from our mind. Finally we will explore the experience of freedom and happiness that will arise from this.
Together, these meditations and practices will help us to develop a clear understanding of how to liberate ourself and others from our ongoing experience of problems and suffering. Taking this to heart will lead to a powerful yearning to accomplish something extraordinary with this life, something we are all capable of doing … existing in a state of lasting freedom and happiness! Everyone welcome.
