Meditation and the Mind

How to Transform Ourselves and Our World

Meditation is about so much more than cultivating a quick few minutes of inner peace; it’s about transforming the mind entirely and with it, our world.  These days, our world looks to be spiraling out of control.  Anxiety is high and denial, rage, and sorrow are epidemic.  But is binge watching our favorite t.v. show the only viable response?  What else can we do to overcome our sense of helplessness, vulnerability, and isolation?

In this class we will learn about the nature and function of the mind, the interplay between mind and its objects, and how we can bring our mind under control through the practice of meditation. We will examine some of the particular minds that cause us distress and how we can combat them through skillfully applying opponents. And we will look at how, through so doing, we can help change the world for the better!
